The pieces are light in weight, large in size (about 3/4" thick for easy handling), and interlock loosely so even pre-schoolers can assemble them easily. All are precut, safe, sturdy, and water-resistant. Color dyes are nontoxic. The Checkerboard is approximately 28" wide and 28" long ( we use our W-1150 28" square puzzle for this ) with red and black squares, and the checkers are 3" in diameter and are also red and black in color.
