Our Rocking Horses are very sturdily built. They are capable of holding up to 300 lbs. safely. If really abused, we would recommend only up to 150 lbs., which means we want to limit that kind of use to young children. We have found our Rocking Horses are also purchased for adult interior decorating purposes, at which time they sometimes get utilized by adults in a fun way, but maybe get abused in the wrong way.

Our Rocking Horse is balanced so that when a young child is positioned on the horse he or she is slid forward to hold onto the handle to secure him or herself well. This helps prevent sitting back too far, which could create potential falling off too easily. We also do not put a foot rest for a very young child to position their feet on. At a very young age, a child's leg muscles are very strong, and would give them the ability to force rock the Rocking Horse and maybe throw themselves off. As the child grows, their feet will eventually reach down to the rocker, at which point they then will have control to move the rocker across the floor. (Especially carpet - this is really "cool" if you ask me, I wish I had this type when I was a kid - over 62 years ago.)

Also, there are no stringy fibrous materials to allow a young child to choke on, as well as no padded seats to get sliced up or tore. Our Rocking Horse is a very durable friendly Riding Toy. All are precut, finished, assembled, safe, sturdy, and water-resistant. The colors are non-toxic stain-like impregnated finishes.

The size of our Rocking Horse is 30" long (rocker), 26" high (at the head), and 11" wide. The seat is 16" off the floor.

The color/finish of this model is where we Burnt the wood first with a very hot flame and then a Hand Rubbed Natural Oil finish applied to the burnt surface directly afterwords to seal in the rustic beauty. Then we Hand Painted characteristic features on the head, saddle, and rockers.
